Gus Gomez
Funeral Associates

Gus was born in Honduras and moved to New York with his family at the age of 8. Once he reached his teen years, Gus moved to Florida where he began his career in the restaurant industry. He learned the business from the ground up; working as a bus boy and bar back until he entered the restaurant floor at a fine dining establishment. Training under a French manager, Gus learned the attention to detail and great care fine dining entails. Through this mentorship, Gus began to realize his love for fine dining and cuisine. His career continued to grow when he was offered the opportunity to be a Manager in Training for a food concourse in Miami International Airport. After several years, Gus moved to Sanford, NC where he was able to use his love for the food and restaurant industry. Gus managed, cooked and catered out of W. B. Joyce’s Restaurant, opened Brick City Chop House and the bar, Next Door. Through the years, he was able to keep honing his skills while working at Fresh Choice Café and Renald’s before moving into larger restaurants in Southern Pines, NC: Tripps, Chilis and CharBar7. Gus made his career move to Funeral Associate for Miller-Boles in May 2018. Gus is married with two daughters and continues to prepare delicious meals at home in his spare time.
