Hale Richardson
Funeral Associate

Hale Richardson is a Moore County native.  He has been employed at Boles Funeral Home for 39 years and fondly remembers the early days when he was one of the first full-time employees.  He is a long-time member of Faith Baptist Church where he serves as a Deacon.   He loves to “make music” and can be seen around town playing his banjo with the Ingram family.  He is an avid gardener, growing, canning and freezing most of the vegetables that his family will eat.  He has been married to his lovely wife Tina for over 50 years and together they have two daughters, Tammy and Crystal, two sons-in-law, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Lee Setzer
Funeral Associate

Lee Setzer was born and raised in Sanford, NC. He is a very active member of Buffalo Presbyterian Church and participates in many community events, including the Lee County Enrichment Center. He is married to Pat Setzer, and they have one son and seven grandchildren. Lee has been working in the funeral service profession since October of 2005.

Patrick Kelly
Funeral Associate

Patrick has was born and raised in Lee County and graduated from Lee County High School in 2003. He then attended Western Carolina University and graduated in 2007 with an undergrad in Political Science and then again in 2009 with a Master's in Public Administration. He came home to Sanford where he has worked for Lee County Schools and Lee County Sheriff's Office. He currently serves as the Chair of the Lee County Board of Education and works for Central Carolina Community College as the Assistant Director of Student Outreach. He is active in his local community through the Jonesboro Rotary Club, Friendship Masonic Lodge, and many other Civic organizations. When he's not busy with those he spends time on the Crystal Coast or NC State athletic events. 






Gus Gomez
Funeral Associate

Gus was born in Honduras and moved to New York with his family at the age of 8. Once he reached his teen years, Gus moved to Florida where he began his career in the restaurant industry. He learned the business from the ground up; working as a bus boy and bar back until he entered the restaurant floor at a fine dining establishment. Training under a French manager, Gus learned the attention to detail and great care fine dining entails. Through this mentorship, Gus began to realize his love for fine dining and cuisine. His career continued to grow when he was offered the opportunity to be a Manager in Training for a food concourse in Miami International Airport. After several years, Gus moved to Sanford, NC where he was able to use his love for the food and restaurant industry. Gus managed, cooked and catered out of W. B. Joyce’s Restaurant, opened Brick City Chop House and the bar, Next Door. Through the years, he was able to keep honing his skills while working at Fresh Choice Café and Renald’s before moving into larger restaurants in Southern Pines, NC: Tripps, Chilis and CharBar7. Gus made his career move to Funeral Associate for Miller-Boles in May 2018. Gus is married with two daughters and continues to prepare delicious meals at home in his spare time.






Sammy Gilmore
Funeral Associate

Sammy Gilmore joined Boles Funeral Home as an Associate in 2003, after retiring from the US Postal Service.  Sammy is a decorated Vietnam Veteran awarded a medal for Valor. Sammy and his wife, Becky, live in Seven Lakes and are very proud of their two daughters, sons-in-law, and four granddaughters. Sammy has served many terms as a Deacon in his Church, Robbins First Baptist, and has been recognized as Layman of the Year.  He enjoys playing golf with his buddies, attending Tarheel football and basketball games, Yankee baseball, spending time, and traveling with his family.



 



Ryan Salmon
Funeral Associate

Ryan was raised in Moore County and graduated from Pinecrest High School in 2012. He attended Appalachian State University, Sandhills Community College, and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, graduating in 2016.  In 2018, he returned to the University of North Carolina at Pembroke as a graduate student. He has worked with Boles Funeral Home since 2017. 




 

 

David Womble
Funeral Associate

David is a North Carolina native, born and raised in Raleigh. He graduated from Wingate College in 1973 and Appalachian State University in 1975. David's career focused primarily in the areas of procurement and contracts, initially at Rex Hospital for sixteen years and then at NC Department of Health and Human Services for twenty-five years.

 

David and his wife, Carolyn moved to Southern Pines shortly after retiring in 2017. Their three daughters and their families live close by, with two in Cary and one in Whispering Pines, so the family often gets together! He particularly enjoys his time with their seven grandchildren. 




 

 

Daniel Kiser
Funeral Associate

Daniel is a Moore County Native and resides in beautiful downtown Southern Pines with his wife Kelly and apple of his eye, daughter Keturah. He attends Solid Rock Community Church in Sanford and he has worked in the seafood industry for twelve plus years. In his spare time you can find him relaxing at the beach, fishing, or tackling his never ending home-improvement list. Daniel has been enjoying his time at Boles and looks forward to continuing to serve each family he meets with gentleness and compassion.




 

 

Jessica Torvinen
Funeral Associate

Jessica and her husband of 32 years moved to Moore County April of 2022 after a three year stint in Northern California. Both natives of Duluth, Minnesota, she and Todd have three grown sons. Spencer (Felicia) of Southern Pines, NC, Austin (Molly) and  Samuel (Kaylee) all of Duluth, MN. She comes to Boles with eight years Funeral Associate experience and twenty years Hospitality/Hotel Management experience. She enjoys quilting, fitness and anything outdoors. Looking forward to learning to golf, she says North Carolina feels like “home”. 




 

 

Robert Doby
Funeral Associate

Robert was born in Moore County and graduated Union Pines High School in 1989. 

 




Len Murry
Funeral Associate

Len retired to the Pinehurst/Southern Pines area after 30 years in the Fairfax County Virginia Fire and Rescue Department. He comes to Boles with 30 years of funeral associate experience at a funeral home in Herndon,  Virginia. Len also remains an Adjunct Faculty Member of FEMA's National Fire Academy. During his free time you can find him on the golf course!






Evon Cheek
Funeral Associate

Evon is from Edinboro, PA and lives in West End with her husband, Holden, a Moore county native, and two daughters, Violet and Iris. Evon completed her bachelor degree in business at Edinboro University, and is currently enrolled in the funeral services program at Fayetteville Tech. She is grateful for the opportunity to service the community in which she lives.
